Coaching
Coaching is my passion and I have dedicated my career to learning how to improve and so develop my coaching skills to improve the riders physical and mental capabilities. Combining this with my classical riding training I focus on the riders biomechanics, position and aids to improve the horses way of going.
Riding
Training any horse is a true privilege. I have had over 20 years classical training from some of the worlds most renowned trainers including Charles de Kunffy, Arthur Kotas and Stephen Clarke.
Mindset
The physical skills of the rider are important in creating a quality performance, but developing a riders mental attitude and strength is key to accelerating a riders outcomes by focusing on the inputs.
Coaching
I learnt to ride in a wonderful riding school and that’s where it all started for me, my riding instructor was my idol and the dream began. The years I spent learning to ride and working at this riding school were invaluable experience that has helped make me a better coach.
When I left school I went to agricultural college and gained my British Horse Society Assistant Instructor qualification and from there the journey was really only just beginning. I gained practical experience in Dressage and Eventing, I taught people of all ages on all types of horses, I achieved my British Horse Society Intermediate Instructor Certificate, BHS Stable Manager and BHS Stage 5 Senior Coach Qualifications.
I spent 15 years training at the infamous Training the Teachers of Tomorrow Trust where my love of classical training flourished. I was fortunate to receive training from some of the world’s most renowned classical masters including Charles de Kunffy and Arthur Kottas. I set up and ran my own livery yard for 10 years, before becoming a pure free-lance rider and coach.
Mindset
I have completed the Advanced Centre 10 Coaching program, which has given me an extended knowledge and the tools to help riders develop their mental strength and improve their riding performance. Mind set and psychology play a huge part in sport, everyday life and work, developing the clients awareness of this area and giving them tools to help them is hugely rewarding. I offer un-mounted session in person or online for mind-set training.
Riding
I love to train horses of all levels and all types, and I have competed successfully in affiliated Dressage and Eventing. My real love is the training of horse, ensuring the horse is fully prepared mentally and physically so the horse is confident to do the job and able to perform to the best of his ability.
Every horse is an individual and must be treated as such so each horse’s journey to whatever its goal maybe is tailor made. I have had training and experience in Natural Horsemanship and often use this to prepare young horses or use it with horses that need retraining where appropriate. I thoroughly enjoyed riding my own and other people’s horses and offer schooling services.
I am a fully qualified ITEC Equine Sports Massage Therapist and this enhances my assessment of the horses biomechanics and way of going.
